Petya II Class Large Patrol Corvette
Harpoon reports that "A Petya-II class ship, the U-131, was inherited from the Soviet navy in 1992. It was originally slated to become a museum ship but instead retained in service. A Petya-III class ship (possibly intended for a cancelled Soviet-era export order) was transferred from Russia in 1996 as part of the Black Sea Fleet division and renumbered U-132." Hzegray reports U131 as an "Ex-Soviet ship defected in 1992; decommissioned as a memorial in 1993 but reactivated in 1995." and U132 as "Former Soviet unit transferred 1996 and used mostly as a training ship." Combat Fleets and World Warships are silent on the subject, while Ukrainian sources mention only one Petya, TFR-112, subeequently redesignated U132.
Ex-Soviet ship defected in 1992; decommissioned as a memorial in 1993 but scrapped in 1996. The first news of the unexpected transition guard ship TFR-112 at Odessa came at 10 o'clock in the morning of 21 July 1992. As Commander of the naval forces of Ukraine Boris KOZHIN immediately phoned the Chief of staff of the Black Sea fleet Vice admėralu h. Gurėnovu and suggested: "If the will of the people, then let the ship go to Odessa. The Vice Admiral said the threat that if necessary, he will use the weapons."
He later wrote" Then, there was no time for thought, the Act should have been immediately. Immediately I went to the Sebastopol radio to inform sevastopėl'cėv about the event and warn of probable use of weapons by SEA FLEET against the TFR-112. Interrupting radio airplay on local radio, I turned to sevastopol with the following speech: "Dear sevastpol'cė! To you speaks Ukrainian Navy commander Rear Admiral b. Kozhin. 20 minutes ago I became aware of the fact that the crew of the ship storoževogo TFR-112, which was garrisoned at Donuzlave, picked up the State flag of Ukraine, came out into the sea and now is in the port of Odessa.
"Prior to this, the personal composition of the ship led by Commander Captain-Lieutenant Sergei Nastęnko took the military oath of allegiance to the people of Ukraine. Ship out of peaceful purpose out in the sea, raised the flag of Ukraine, in its teritorial'nih waters and sent to the port of Odessa. When I spoke to the Chief of the Black Sea fleet Vice Admiral Gurinova with a request not to counteract storoževomu ship TFR-112, then got the answer that karablû will be applied, and this could lead to casualties. In the composition of the crew serving service and representatives of the city of Sevastopol, your children and grandchildren."
On 29 July 1992 the Russian FOREIGN MINISTRY sent a note to the MINISTRY of FOREIGN AFFAIRS of Ukraine, in which it was pointed out that the fact of "hijacking" the ship and its location in the port of Odessa makes a destabilising element in position on the Black Sea fleet and creates difficulties in stabilizing Dagomis'kih agreements between the Russian Federation and Ukraine on the further development of interstate relations from June 28, 1992 in the part which refers to the Black Sea fleet. In circulation were asked to solve the problem by returning the ship TFR-112 in the composition of the Black Sea fleet and carrying out "hijacking". Thus, the events associated with the crew TFR-112, were handled at the interstate level.
The Mariners were proud of the fact that by their intention to go to the service of the Ukrainian Navy, they carried out first on the Black Sea fleet. And this joy could not overshadow even the tragic death of the Navigator of the ship's Senior Lieutenant p. Kanûkova.
The public, many military and political leaders have seen the ship as the future Museum of naval forces. In Sevastopol, members of the "Enlightenment", the Union of officers of Ukraine and other organizations have created a Committee to protect the TFR-112 "and sent the Minister of defence of dozens of appeals and statements to the public, but all in vain.
Sevastopol created a "Committee to protect the guard ship TFR-112", in which representatives of public organizations operated with many regions of Ukraine. A sincere Patriot from Lviv Lidia Madoân, not to give to destroy the ship. She applied to the Ukrainian Navy command, urged asked, but her voice and was not heard. At the beginning of September 1996 in Ukrainian newspapers, on radio and television was a speech about appealing to State officials asking them not to allow the destruction of the ship. But relevant officials were not paid because the proper attention.
According to reports of the press, "his planned to surpass to Kiev and put the capital on a lifetime parking lot, on the basis of the first ship of the restored naval forces of Ukraine the Museum, but Hill took other considerations. Storožovik was immediately expelled from the Navy and literally three months sliced up for scrap. Its commander Sergei Nastenko subsequently was appointed commander of the Ukrainian Navy leader Hetman Sagaidachny. Freed from the service with the rank of Captain of the 1st rank.
The Ministry of defence received disposal dispose of the ship. Vladimir Bezkorovajnij has complied with this order. In the summer of 1996 the ship was salvaged for scrap.
