Su-26 Training aircraft

Sukhoi Design Bureau's interest in sports aircraft led to the construction of a prototype Su-26, which made its first flight in June 1984. Four cars were built in the original standard with two-bladed propellers, after which production switched to the Su-26M with a redesigned tail unit and a three-bladed Hoffman propeller.

Single sports and aerobatic aircraft Su-26M created in OKB im. BY. Sukhoi for performing the most complex aerobatic maneuvers is one of the best aircraft in the world for training, training and pilots' participation in aerobatics competitions and demonstrations. Since 1986, more than one hundred and fifty medals have been won by airplane at the World and European Championships, of which more than ninety gold. In 1992-93, the national championships of the USA and Australia were won on Su-26M aircraft.

Due to its unique design, made on the basis of the latest technologies, the aircraft is not inferior, which appeared much later, to the best foreign sports and aerobatic aircraft, and the combination of the characteristics of maximum permissible overload, angular roll speed and rate of climb is still unsurpassed.

Su-26M has an advantage in performance over existing sports and aerobatic aircraft due to the use of modern composite materials in its design. Su-26M has extraordinary strength - destructive overload is 23 units!

The design features of the aircraft are high acceleration and rate of climb characteristics, excellent controllability combined with low control loads, a high level of permissible overloads and a circular spatial view from the cockpit.

Su-26M has an exciting roll speed, high-altitude movement and high pitch maneuverability. The unusual structural strength of the aircraft, combined with a 45-degree seat tilt, allows the pilot to repeatedly use + 12 / -10 overload, which gives an advantage when controlling a relatively high-speed aircraft in a limited aerobatic zone. Su-26M is simple and economical to operate, has a long service life.

Truss frame of the Su-26M fuselage is welded, from pipes of high-strength stainless steel; removable panels made of composite material with honeycomb filler form its skin. The one-piece two-spar wing is completely made of composite materials based on carbon and organoplastics; the wing skin panels have a honeycomb core. Vertical and horizontal plumage is also made of composite materials. The proportion of composite materials in the weight of the structure exceeds 50%. The main wheels of the aircraft chassis are located on springs made of titanium alloy and equipped with differential single-disc brakes with hydraulic drive.

For the first time in the history of the state, in 1989 aircraft were sold in the United States. And today more than two dozen Su-26M and its modifications are operated in Germany, Great Britain, Switzerland, Spain, South Africa. More than 30 aircraft are in operation at Russian flying clubs.

Modifications were built on the basis of the Su-26M: Su-26MX with wing fuel tanks and Su-26M2 with a flight path tracing system and an additional fuel tank. At the request of the customer, the Su-26M aircraft is converted to Su-26M2.
