Kalyazin Machine-Building Plant (KMZ)

The Kalyazin Machine-Building Plant [Kalyazin Mechanical Engineering Plant] was established in 1967 in the city of Kalyazin on the Volga river as an affiliate of the former Znamya Truda plant. Initially, the Kalyazin facility specialized in the production of spare parts for support of military aircraft that have been phased out of series production, but were still in service with air forces of customers' countries. In 1973, the Kalyazin Machine-Building Plant went through major modernization: new shops were opened, including the pilots' seats production shop and heat treatment shop. The Kalyazin plant employed 300 specialists as of 2003.
