Eleron–3 remote observation system
"Eleron-3" - a complex of short-range air reconnaissance and surveillance with unmanned aerial vehicles, developed by the Russian company "ENICS". The complex includes an unmanned aerial vehicle, variable modular payload, ground control point and launch devices. The Eleron–3 remote observation system is designed for round-the-clock airborne optoelectronic reconnaissance and provides:
- Visual search of reconnaissance objects by the operator in real time;
- Detection and identification of reconnaissance objects;
- Pinpointing the exact location of these objects with coordinates displayed on the ground control panel via GLONASS / GPS;
- Aerial photography of the area.
The system is designed for round-the-clock airborne optoelectronic reconnaissance and provides:
- Monitoring the ground situation, protecting territories and objects from the air
- Border patrols, coast guard patrols, and control of territorial waters
- Search-and-rescue support
- Monitoring the condition of highways and railways
- Monitoring the condition of oil and gas pipelines and power lines
- Environmental monitoring of land and water areas, and air basin
- Mapping and aerial photography
- Fishery exploration and control of fishing
- Aerial reconnaissance and electronic warfare
- Monitoring GSM communication networks, determining the required parameters and coordinates of mobile communication devices with positioning on an electronic map
- Ice situation monitoring
- Monitoring the ground situation during forest fires
- Monitoring settlements cut off by floods
- Monitoring the state of engineering structures during ice drift.
In 2012, a family of short-range unmanned aerial systems of the Eleron-3 type and medium-range Eleron-10 type passed the cycle of state tests and entered service with the RF Armed Forces. Modified versions of these complexes were named Eleron-3SV and Eleron-10SV. UAV "Eleron-3SV" is designed to solve various tasks of remote observation and monitoring of terrain and objects. With a takeoff weight of 5.3 kg, the device is capable of carrying a payload of up to 1 kg. The modernized Eleron-3SV UAV surpassed its predecessor in a number of characteristics, in particular, the flight duration increased to 100 minutes; reduced noise level; increased rate of climb; reduced dimensions when folded, installed a replaceable modular payload with improved image stabilization; a flight duration forecast system is also provided.
The unmanned aircraft battalion was formed at 201 Russian military base in Tajikistan in May 2019. The unmanned aircraft (UAV) battalion of the Russian military base in Tajikistan received Eleron-3 and Tachyon drones in the first quarter of 2020, base commander Sergei Goryachev told reporters. "In the first quarter of 2020, the newly formed battalion of unmanned aerial vehicles of the 201st military base will receive the latest reconnaissance systems of remotely piloted unmanned aerial vehicles Eleron-3 and Tachyon for work at short distances," Goryachev said, noting that with their assistance will improve the quality of monitoring of border areas.
The new equipment will increase the mobility of the unit and, due to the portable kit, which does not require special equipment for transportation, will reduce the time to start work. "These systems allow you to receive information and perform tasks quickly, efficiently and on time due to the ability to transmit a video signal to a ground control station in real time," Goryachev specified.
While the huge "Topol" and "Yars" are preparing to change their deployment, several anti-sabotage groups are entering the combat patrol routes at once. Armored vehicles advance through the Teikovsky forests, ahead of the armored personnel carriers is "Foliage" - an advanced remote mine clearance system designed specifically for the Strategic Missile Forces.
Its equipment makes it possible to detect and destroy explosive devices on the move at a distance of up to 100 meters. The instruments saw a mine, which means that an ambush lurked somewhere nearby in the forest. The crew of "Foliage" reports this to the scouts, and the column decides to drive as close as possible to the danger zone so as not to frighten away the saboteurs and destroy them with lightning speed.
"The personnel act in a coordinated, confident manner. We perform such trainings many times a day. We have enough forces and means to repel sabotage groups. The convoy includes the Listva demining vehicle, the RKhBZ, as well as the Typhoon BDM, the S-80 armored personnel carrier," said Alexei Mikhailov, deputy commander of the security and intelligence battalion for military-political work of the Teykovskaya division of the Strategic Missile Forces.
The Typhoon combat anti-sabotage vehicle is another novelty in the arsenal of the Teik missilemen. It allows you to solve tasks of protection and reconnaissance on the distant approaches to the combat positions of launchers. Air control of the area and detection of DRGs is carried out using the Eleron-3 drone, while the operators themselves are covered by the Typhoon BDM.
