ANT-30 SK-1 “land cruiser”

In 1933 - 1934, the design bureau for the technical requirements of the Air Force worked out a project of a two-engine multipurpose aircraft of the “air cruiser” class, developing the ideas embodied in the R-6 and MI-3. The military ordered a two-engined land cruiser design bureau, hence the name of the SK-1 - “land cruiser” - sukhoputnyy kreyser.

The design bureaus of the ANT-30 aircraft were developed in the design bureau; the designation CK-1 was obtained from the design bureau, under 2 domestic engines of the M-38 type with a rated power of 570 hp each. and under 2 Hispano-Suiza 12YBrs.

According to the draft, the ANT-30 was to be carried out according to the scheme of an all-metal twin-engine nizkoplan with a smooth skin and normal tail. When considering possible projects, special attention was paid to the effectiveness of offensive and defensive small arms and cannon weapons. A firing point with two ShKAS machine guns was located in the front ascending domed installation, the rear hemisphere was covered by a DAK type fuselage installation with one DA or ShKAS machine gun and installation with an Oerlikon cannon. In the fuselage cargo compartment in the "cruiser" version, there was an additional fuel tank; in the version of the high-speed bomber, bomb holders were installed there, besides, the bombs could be hung on external holders under the center section. The total bomb load reached 1000 kg.

The Air Force made ANT-30 aircraft TTT, carried out aerodynamic calculations, made models, prepared design documentation for the construction of a prototype, and pilot production began. But all the works were gradually curtailed at the end of 1933 - at the beginning of 1934, at this point the technical readiness of the ANT-30 was estimated at 16%. The reason was the decision to switch to a more promising type of aircraft - ANT-40 (SB), as well as the gradual extinction of the concept of a universal cruiser aircraft.
