An-25 Anti-Balloon Aircraft

An-25 is a free-carrying monoplane of all-metal construction with a mid-mounted rectangular wing of large swing and elongation. The aircraft is equipped with one turbojet D-20P with a take-off thrust of 5800 kgf and two air intakes in the wing at the junction with the fuselage. An-25 has a hermetic cabin for the pilot and the shooter-observer, located in the glazed front of the aircraft.

The An-25 aircraft was equipped with equipment (in a fairing on the keel), designed to detect and track ADA at altitudes of up to 40,000 m. To destroy aerostats at altitudes of up to 22,000 m, on the upper surface of the fuselage, behind the cockpit of the pilot is a rifle installation with a firing angle in the vertical plane 0 ... 1000. Estimated data: takeoff weight of the aircraft - 7200 kg, cruising speed at an altitude of 20 km - 540 km / h, duration of patrol - 2.5 hours.

In 1958 a preliminary design was completed.
