Voyenyy Tanker (VT) Military Tanker
By the year 2001 it was expected that this class of aged light fleet oilers would soon be discarded. Ships of the Russian Black Sea Fleet and Baltic Fleets started exercises off the coast of Syria 11 January 2013. A Baltic Fleet group consisting of the patrol vessel Yaroslav Mudry and tanker Lena docked at Valetta on Malta for storing and to allow the crew to rest. The ships then headed for the eastern Mediterranean, where the two ships practiced stores transfer at sea in day and night and the Yaroslav Mudry carried out anti-submarine warfare drills.
