Project 22120 Purga Littoral Patrol / Interceptor Boat

Project 22120 Littoral Patrol / Interceptor Boats, the Purga class is a series of ice-class high-speed multipurpose coast guard ships capable of keeping watch in the ice. The hull of the ship is equipped with ice reinforcement, allowing to overcome the ice thickness of more than half a meter. Also, according to the information agency ITAR-TASS , the patrol ship can be placed at the disposal of the Russian Navy.

The hull of the ship is equipped with ice reinforcement, allowing to overcome the ice thickness of more than half a meter. Its primary purpose is to monitor the surface, submarine and air situation in the designated area, the task of protecting marine bioresources and controlling fisheries, the vessel project 22120 can also effectively perform tasks directly related to the protection of the state border of the Russian Federation.

The border guard patrol ship of Project 22120 Purga is equipped with a twin-shaft main power plant with a capacity of 7,500 kW at 1,000 rev / min., Which includes two ABC 16M VDZC-1000-180 diesel engines with a capacity of 5,440 liters each. with. each, and is able to reach a speed of maximum stroke of 24 knots. and an economic rate of 14 knots.

In addition, the vessel is equipped with three Lindenberg diesel generators with a capacity of 292 kW each and one diesel generator of the same brand, but with a power of 85 kW. The propellers are two four-bladed propellers of adjustable pitch. The range of navigation with an economic course reaches 6000 miles, autonomy - 20 days, and the crew size is 16-25 people (according to various sources, 16-18 people on the head, up to 25 people on the serial ones, plus 5 people power support). The vessel is equipped with passive pitching dampers and bow thruster type.

The project provides for the possibility of accommodating one 30-mm rapid-fire automatic AK-306M light installation, which has a closed type of ship's bow, but at the present time the gun installation aboard two ships of this type accepted by the Coast Guard of the Federal Security Service of Russia is not installed.

On board the patrol ship of Project 22120 Purga, a platform for a helicopter was equipped, which can patrol large areas of the sea, as well as participate in the detention of border trespassers, drug dealers and poachers. It is planned that helicopters of the type Ka-226MT will be based on the vessel of project 22120.

Starting from the first serial ship of the project 22120 (PS-825), these border patrol vessels will be equipped with more sophisticated means of communication and navigation, they will improve the living conditions of the crew, and in addition the ship will additionally have another onboard boat. At the same time, storage of one inspection tool is possible in a closed hangar placed on a slip in the aft part of the vessel. The border patrol vessel of the project 22120 is equipped with modern means of navigation, control and communication.

The project was developed in the St. Petersburg Petrobalt design bureau by request of the Federal Customs Service of the Russian Federation (FCS RF). After the refusal of the Federal Customs Service of the Russian Federation from this project, financing of the project was continued by the Border Guard Service of the Federal Security Service of the Russian Federation (FS of the Federal Security Service of the Russian Federation) to update the ships crews with the ships of this project.

It is assumed that the ships of the series will serve in the northern seas of Russia based in the Gulf of Finland, in the Japanese, Okhotsk and Barents Seas, therefore the ships of the series have ice reinforcement ensuring independent navigation in winter-spring navigation in rarefied annual ice up to 0.6 meters. Radar tools can detect intruders at a distance of 40 nautical miles. A helicopter platform is also mounted on board, the use of a helicopter allows the ships to expand their capabilities - the area being patrolled increases, and the border intruders are arrested as soon as possible.

The lead ship of the project 22120, factory number 050 was laid at the Petersburg Shipbuilding Plant " Almaz " in 2007 as a large customs vessel for the needs of the Federal Customs Service of the Russian Federation. Later, the project of the ship was revised in the interests of the FS of the FSB of the Russian Federation, and the PS-581 tactical number was changed to PS-824. Launching took place on December 24, 2009. PS-824 transferred to the Border Guard Service on December 22, 2010. From May 2010, practical tasks were worked out in Vyborg, and in the summer of 2010 PS-824 crossed the Northern Sea Route to the Pacific Ocean. In early 2013, the main engine weighing more than 22 tons was replaced with Livadia Repair and Shipbuilding Plant LLC (Primorsky Krai). In less than a month and a half, the technical documentation was prepared and the replacement itself was made.

Innumerable minor differences are apparent between the first unit - PS-824 - and subsequent units starting with PS-825 - different number of bridge windows, notched aft superstructure on the later unit, etc... . The first serial production ship commissioned by the Coast Guard Directorate of the Border Guard Service of the Federal Security Service of the Russian Federation, factory number 051, was laid down on November 25, 2011, also at the Almaz shipyard. The ship received a tactical number PS-825. Launching took place on December 4, 2012. On July 5, 2013, the flag was solemnly raised at PS-825, and the ship became part of the PS FSB ships of the Russian Federation. According to the chief designer of the PKB Petrobalt, who oversees this project, Ilya Vadimovich Shcherbakov, the PS-825 differs from the main one - in particular, improved means of communication, auxiliary equipment and improved ship accessibility have been installed. The transition to the service station in the Pacific passed through Murmansk, then along the Northern Sea Route through the Bering Straitto the Pacific Ocean to Sakhalin Island to the town of Nevelsk . On board the ship was the Bishop of Naryan-Mar and Mezems, Jacob, who accompanied the relics of Nicholas the Wonder and the Worship Cross, which was installed on one of the islands near Sakhalin.
