On board the patrol ship of Project 22120 Purga, a platform for a helicopter was equipped, which can patrol large areas of the sea, as well as participate in the detention of border trespassers, drug dealers and poachers. It is planned that helicopters of the type Ka-226MT will be based on the vessel of project 22120.

Starting from the first serial ship of the project 22120 (PS-825), these border patrol vessels will be equipped with more sophisticated means of communication and navigation, they will improve the living conditions of the crew, and in addition the ship will additionally have another onboard boat. The project was developed in the St. Petersburg Petrobalt design bureau by request of the Federal Customs Service of the Russian Federation (FCS RF). Launching took place on December 24, 2009. PS-824 transferred to the Border Guard Service on December 22, 2010. From May 2010, practical tasks were worked out in Vyborg, and in the summer of 2010 PS-824 crossed the Northern Sea Route to the Pacific Ocean. In early 2013, the main engine weighing more than 22 tons was replaced with Livadia Repair and Shipbuilding Plant LLC (Primorsky Krai). In less than a month and a half, the technical documentation was prepared and the replacement itself was made.

The first serial production ship commissioned by the Coast Guard Directorate of the Border Guard Service of the Federal Security Service of the Russian Federation, factory number 051, was laid down on November 25, 2011, also at the Almaz shipyard. The ship received a tactical number PS-825. Launching took place on December 4, 2012. On July 5, 2013, the flag was solemnly raised at PS-825, and the ship became part of the PS FSB ships of the Russian Federation.
