75th Infantry Battalion
"Marauder"
The mission of the 75th Infantry Battalion, "Marauder," is to conduct security and stability operations to neutralize threat groups in its area of responsibility in order to attain a secured environment conducive to peace and development.
The 75th Infantry Battalion traces its lineage to the 26th Battalion Combat Team. Organized in 1952, the 26th Battalion Combat Team earned distinction during the campaign against the Hukbalahap in Central Luzon and Southern Tagalog provinces. The 26th Battalion Combat Team remained active following the end of the Huk insurgency while many other battalions were inactivated.
The 26th Battalion Combat Team was shipped to Mindanao and operated during the 1960s as a contigent force against piracy and smuggling syndicates. In 1971 the unit went through retraining and was subsequently redesiganted as the 26th Infantry Battalion. This came as the MNLF insurgency became a more serious threat in western front of mindanao. During this campaign the unit was assigned to the 4th Infantry Division and participated in the pacification drive in the provinces of Lanao del Norte and del Sur, Zamboanga del Sur, Basilan and the island of Sulu.
When the 1st Scout Ranger Regiment was reactivated in 1983, the 26th Infantry Battalion was inactivated and its personnel used to activate the 2nd Scout Ranger Battalion. The unit was subsequently deplyoed to Misamis Oriental and Davao City to conduct operations against the NPA. The unit was in Davao City when the decision was made to inactivate the 1st Scout Ranger Regiment for its participation in a coup attempt in 1989. The decision was made to split up the former Scout Ranger elements and assign them to regular infantry formations. Personnel from the 2nd Scout Ranger Battalion were used to form the 75th Infantry Battalion. The Battalion was assigned to the 6th Infantry Division and because of the advanced training of the core personnel, became a major participant in the Division's operations.
On 12 September 2000, pursuant to an operational directive from Headquarters, 6th Infantry Division, dated 27 July 2000, the unit relinquish its operational control over Davao del Sur and western part of North Cotabato. The 68th Infantry Battalion, part of the 7th Infantry Division and the 12th Special Forces Company, part of the Special Operations Command, subsequently took over operational control over the municipalities of Maasim, Kiamba and Maitum, all in Sarangani Province and the municipality of Palimbang in Sultan Kudarat.
On 20 November 2000 the entire province of Sarangani was added to the unit's AOR, to include General Santos City. On 25 January 2002, however, this unit relinquish operational control over Sarangani Province and Palimbang, Sultan Kudarat to 27th Infantry Battalion and subsequently took over Camp Datu Duma Sinsuat, South Bombaran, Brgy Tugaig, Barira, Maguindanao.
