The more remote history of this brigade is 1946, when as Secretary of Defense Major General Francis L. Urquizo and Director of Aviation, Major General Aviation Pilot Gustavo Salinas Camilla, a study was conducted to create a unit of paratroopers Fusiliers, deciding to send a group of officers and enlisted personnel, a training camp this specialty in the United States, which would be in the future, who would be responsible for the training of Mexican military parachutists. In April 1946 Second Captain Lopez Albarran Plutarch, was instructed to gather volunteers to integrate the new unit, were considered 170 officers and 190 elements of troops, which were selected 20 officers and 30 troops, who organized 2 groups, moved to Fort Benning, Georgia, USA. The first group under the command of Captain Lopez Albarran described as a paratrooper on July 20, 1946 and the second group Cavalry commanded by Lt. Munguia Jorge Gonzalez scored on 3 August of that year.
This new unit was established in the Military Field Balbuena, carried out the first jump from an aircraft in flight over Mexican territory, the September 15, 1946. That same year, the unit received the designation of Company Minimum Aerotropas, establishing his headquarters in the city of Puebla. On February 15, 1947, became Aerotropas Company settled in Military Camp No. 1, Mexico City. In April 1948, the Company Aerotropas ceased to belong to the Mexican Air Force, and was attached to the Presidential Guards. On May 8, 1964 Parachute Battalion was established in Santa Lucia, Edo. In January 1969 President of the Republic Lic Gustavo Diaz Ordaz and Secretary of Defence Major General Marcelino García Barragán created the Parachute Rifle Brigade [Brigada de Fusileros Paracaidistas], being organized with Headquarters, Headquarters Company and two battalions Paratroopers Rifle, The Third Battalion was created on 01 July 1974.
The Special Forces Airmobile Group [Grupo Aeromóvil de Fuerzas Especiales - GAFES] was founded in 1998 as a component unit of the Brigade has the general function to fulfill specific missions requiring a high degree of discretion, speed and efficiency in any geographic area of the country.
In August 1999 the Military Parachute Academy was established by the Secretary of National Defense , depending operationally and technically and administratively to the Parachute Rifle Brigade. In May 2002 it became the Training Center Skydiving, depending on the technical and administrative support of this brigade.
