Notes

- The rapid drop in totals provided by the IISS Military Balance, from 22 to 0 between their 2010 and 2012 editions, suggests that the Lao Mig-21 fleet might have been grounded for some time prior to then.

- The IISS Military Balance only lists 4 Yak-12 light transports for the 1999-2000 period (of the periods covered by the table). The SIPRI trade register for Laos makes no mention of such a transfer. It is possible that this was a proposed sale that never materialized.

- The IISS Miltiary Balance lists 3 SA-360 aircraft beginning in the 1999-2000 period. The SIPRI trade register for Laos only notes the delivery of 2 (possibly 4) Z-9A aircraft from China beginning in 2008, stemming from an order circa 2006. It is unclear what the reason for the discrepancy is.

- As of 2012, the IISS Military Balance continues to list only one Ka-32 helicopter, but with 5 more reported to be on order. The SIPRI trade register for Laos notes the purchase of a single helicopter circa 1997 with delivery in 1998, followed by the purchase of some 6 additional aircraft circa 1999 with deliveries between 2000 and 2001. It is unclear what the reason for the discrepancy is.
