Type-2 20mm light automatic anti-aircraft gun
In the framework of military-technical cooperation with Germany, samples and technical documentation were obtained for the 20-mm anti-aircraft machine Flak 38. In 1942, the 20-mm anti-aircraft gun under the Japanese name Type 2 began to enter the army. Compared with the Type 98 20-mm anti-aircraft gun, the German copy was more accurate and reliable, and had a higher rate of fire. The rate of fire increased to 420-480 shots/min. Mass in the combat position: 450 kg, mass in the stowed position: 770 kg.
The tube had a length of 1.4 meters L / 70. It weighed about 550 kg, and fired 20 mm ammunition which went at a speed of 950 m/s. The weapon used a gas system to recharge the cannon. It had an operational range of 5.5 km fired horizontally, and 3.5 km in height. It could rise from -15 ° to +95 °, with a rotation of 360 degrees.
Automatic building sights of these guns were developed vertical and lateral preemption and allowed to direct guns directly at the target. Input data in the sights were entered manually and determined by eye, except for the distance, which was measured by a stereo range finder. Together with the anti-aircraft gun, documentation was received on an anti-aircraft fire control device that could simultaneously transmit data and coordinate battery fire from six anti-aircraft guns, which significantly increased the effectiveness of firing.
The twin guns formed a variant known as the twin Type-2 20 mm anti-aircraft gun. The Type 98 Ta-Ce anti-aircraft tank prototype was equipped with a Type 2 anti-aircraft gun, as the main armament. The Ta-Ce anti-aircraft tank was not adopted.
