Northern Front - Geography

The Northern front is about 120 km wide, and includes terrain that is, to say the least, extremely important. Artificial obstacles that require a large number of regular soldiers, capable of fighting under extremely complex conditions, and in the face of fierce and experienced fighters, and these fighters rely primarily on forms of combat closer to guerrilla warfare and asymmetric warfare than to classical warfare.

The high topographical nature of the area gave the region a military advantage, and an advantage in field and tactical control that allowed for the establishment of military bases and communications and surveillance centers on the peaks. The Israeli army was keen to deploy ample cover, estimated at hundreds, of strategic military and intelligence bases and sites and air defense sites that include Iron Dome missile batteries and radar sites in the northern front operations area, in addition to dozens of barracks, army camps and ammunition depots.

These sites support the front's combat operations to enable the forces to closely monitor the borders and respond quickly to any military threat. These sites are concentrated in the Golan Heights and the Galilee regions, especially Haifa and the border settlements.

  • Ramat David Air Base, the largest air base in the north.
  • Meron base , which is a major center for monitoring, organizing military operations and electronic jamming.
  • Avivim base, which houses heavy artillery units that provide fire support to forces deployed along the border.
  • Zari'it base, which is designated for reconnaissance missions.
  • Ilbun warehouse is used to store nuclear artillery shells and nuclear mines.
  • Branit Barracks, the headquarters of the 91st Division.
  • Haifa Naval Base, which is the main headquarters of the Israeli Navy, is home to Dolphin-class submarines capable of launching cruise missiles, which can be equipped with nuclear warheads.
  • Atlit Naval Base, home to the Israeli army's elite naval unit Shayetet 13 , from which special military and intelligence missions are launched.

As for the Golan Heights, the most important are:

  • Nafah base, which includes the headquarters of the Golan Division and other military commands.
  • Tsnobar base, which provides logistics services, includes an arms depot and an artillery ammunition center.
  • Yarden base, which houses the headquarters of the 210th Division's combat group.
  • Mount Hermon Reconnaissance Center, which carries out espionage and intelligence missions.
  • Quneitra site for artillery units and reconnaissance teams.

The geography imposes itself on battle in the event that it ignites, as the lines of support and geographical communication for Hezbollah with its allies seem clearly available. It is clear, which may make the Israelis enter into a confrontation with an entire axis and not just with the party, and this issue is viewed with extreme sensitivity. There are operational plans, as mentioned by the Israeli media, even if they are difficult and complex, to try to cut the road from Syria to Lebanon before attacking the southern region, through a military operation towards Syrian territory and carrying out an encirclement and encirclement operation.
