Navy Squadrons

    The Israel Navy Headquarters includes naval manpower division, naval equipment division, naval intelligence division, and other staff departments. The headquarters also commands all sea bases, naval instructional bases, naval equipment bases, naval dockyard, and other units.

    HQ, Israeli Navy Command
    Oceanic Command Unit Command of the submarine formation. This naval command unit is responsible for all the military drills, operations and ventures of the naval troops. This unit is divided into four companies: Command, Communication, Electronics and Manpower. The unit is also responsible for the operations of the combat naval soldiers, during peace and emergency situations.
    Submarine Flotilla The volunteer unit of the IDF submarine attack forces. The submarines are equipped with highly sophisticated underwater weaponry used to destroy enemy ships.
    Missile Boat Flotilla 3Consisting of Patrol Boat Units 914 and 916, the mission is to fight against the enemy fleet during war, to sink them, to prevent the closure of Israel's sea by enemies of the State and to aid the ground forces during invasions into enemy territory. They also serve as backup for ground and air forces, as sea deterrence and intelligence gathering.
    Fast Attack Craft SquadronThis squadron operates the fast attack craft that patrol the Israeli coast. The squadron was formed in 1970 after the initial delivery of four Dabur vessels equipped with 20 mm cannons. Over the next several years, Israel made improvements to its patrol craft by upgrading engine and fuel capacity. In the late 1980s, this squadron began operating the Dvora, which incorporated numerous improvements in capability and in 1995, the first Super Dvora craft arrived in Israel.
    Squadron 13 - Navy Commandos One of the most elite units in the IDF. Mission: Implementing military operations against the enemy front lines, for example: targeting enemy sea vessels and gathering information regarding their operations.
    Diver Squadron / Underwater Mission UnitThis unit implements missions undersea, including: repairing naval vessels, the demolition and removal of underwater explosives and the periodical underwater search and rescue missions.
    Routine Security CompanyThis company is composed of ships manned by 8 to 12 soldiers at a time. The commanders of this company must complete a specialized sailor's course and the rest of the soldiers in the team must complete a qualifying course. The routine security ships guards the longest coastal border of the State.
    Port Security Unit:Unit YABAN ("Yechida Lebitahon Nemalyim", in Hebrew) is the Israeli Navy Harbor Security Unit. The Port Security Unit operates to protect the ports and bases of the Israel navy from enemy attacks. The unit is composed of members of the motorized reconnaissance team, maritime vessels and defensive divers.
