8th Armored Brigade

Colonel Yitzhak Sadeh was instrumental in creating the 8th Armored Brigade during Israel's War of Independence in 1948. The brigade originally included ten French H-35 tanks and two British Cromwell tanks. Initial encounters with Arab forces resulted in defeat for the brigade due to faulty equipment and the inexperience of Israeli troops. Throughout the war, the 8th Brigade participated in several additional operations.
