79th Brigade
The 79th Brigade engaged in several operations during the Yom Kippur War of 1973 under the command of Colonel Uri Orr. Major-General Dan Laner ordered the 79th and 17th Brigades to attack Syrian forces in Hushniya. During the offensive, Israeli forces from both brigades succeeded in destroying over 200 Syrian tanks in the area. The 79th Brigade also worked with the 17th Brigade against Syrian positions in Khan Arnaba and Nasej. The 79th Brigade was also one of four Israeli brigades that successfully defeated a force of Iraqi tanks in the Maschara and Nasej areas.
