20th Brigade

The 20th Brigade was one of several key brigades that participated in the Yom Kippur War of 1973 on the Syrian front. The brigade was initially commanded by Major-General Moshe Peled, but command was transfered to Major-General Dan Laner half way through the war. In cooperation with the 17th and 19th Brigades, the 20th Brigade engaged in a succesful attack on an Iraqi tanks that had come across the border to aid Syrian forces. Before the end of the war, the 20th Brigade took part in operations against a Jordanian force, as well as the remnants of the Iraqi and Syrian forces.
