10th Infantry Brigade
The 10th Infantry Brigade was one of ten brigades that participated in the Sinai Campaign of 1956 against an array of Egyptian forces. In this campaign, the 10th Infantry Brigade was accompanied by five other infatry brigades as well as the 202 Parachute Brigade, the 7th Armored, the 27th Mechanized and the 37th Mechanized.
During the Sinai Campaign, the 10th Brigade participated in the battle for Abu Agelia and was assigned the task of capturing the Egyptian stronghold of Um-Katef. The 10th Brigade was originally a reserve brigade, and due to lack of training in combination with heavy artilley response from Egyptian forces, the brigade was initially unsuccessful. However, as additional Israeli forces moved in, the Egyptians feared being cutoff and on November 2, 1956, a detachment of soldiers from the 10th Brigade found the area deserted.
