Baghdad Division (Mechanized)

As of early 1997 the Republican Guard Baghdad Motorized Infantry Division was deployed in Mosul, based in the Al-Dandan area near Mt. Maqloub.

As of early 1999 it was reported that the "Baghdad Forces" Command (Quwat Baghdad Hares Jimhouri) belonging to the Command of the "Allahu Akbar Forces-Northern Corps" (Quwat Allahu Akbar-Hares Jimhouri) was based in Kirkuk.

Opposition sources claimed in January 1999 that the losses inflicted on Saddam's regime during Operation "Desert Fox" included 43 killed among officers and other ranks and 156 wounded. 19 tanks and armored vehicles were destroyed, and 26 others were damaged to varying degrees. Two anti-aircraft batteries were destroyed comprising of 42 anti-aircraft guns and SAM missiles, including 6 SAM 6 missiles. Moreover, several mobile radar units were destroyed together with the Al-Rasheed armory that belongs to the Baghdad Forces Command, as well as huge numbers of ammunitions and light and medium weapons.
