Nalia Air Base

Nalia air base, close to Bhuj in Gujarat, is the western-most air base of the IAF. and later flown to Delhi. In August 1999 two IAF MiG 21s scrambled from Nalia shot down a Pakistani Navy military reconnaissance aircraft with 16 servicemen on board. The Atlantique aircraft was probably on a probing mission, to map the navigable estuaries in the Sir Creek and other regions in Rann of Kutch.
