Kalyani Bharat Forge MGS 39 cal 4x4 155mm

By mid-2020 Kalyani group developed Artillery systems were in the race to be officially be inducted into the Indian Army. Four Artillery systems developed by the Kalyani group had moved from Internal trials to the User Trials stage and soon might be on its way to be inducted into the Indian Army. The Pune-based Kalyani Group, which made a major foray into the field of artillery gun systems, has made strong pitching for supplying these heavy weapons to the Saudi Arabian military. Two types of gun systems — both designed and developed by Kalyani Group — are being sent later this year to Saudi Arabia for trial evaluation by the Royal Saudi Army in the forbidding Arabian desert.

On the recommendation of then, Indian Army Chief Bipin Rawat, later Chief of Defence Staff, Kalyani Group developed a Truck-mounted all steal MArG 155 mm / 39 caliber ULH which was displayed for the first time at the DefExpo2020. Truck Mounted MArG – Steel is a 7.8 tonne, 155 mm, 39-calibre ultralight howitzer mounted on a 4X4 Medium duty, General Service Logistic vehicle which has been specially designed to operate in tough terrains and at high altitude conditions. It suits the requirement over Ladakh and Arunachal`s terrain, where the deployment of Heavy Artillery can be logistically difficult. DRDO & Tata have even bigger guns on 8x8, but unlike PLAGF`s assets they are not in service.

The Ministry of Defence (MoD) announced a negative list of 101 defence items that the MoD will stop importing several weapons and systems that also included 155mm,39 Cal Ultra-Light Howzitzer by Dec 2020 which means imports of more BAE Systems M777 Ultra Lightweight Howitzers for the Indian Army will be no longer be possible and local substitute developed by Kalyani Group has been waiting for Indian Army trials for a while now. Kalyani Group completed Internal Trials of the Ultralight 155mm,39 Cal has been offering Indian Army its all-steel ULH mounted on an Ashok Leyland Truck developed based on inputs from then-Army Chief General Bipin Rawat. Kalyani Group has developed 155mm,39 Cal All Steel, 155mm,39 Cal Titanium, and 155mm,39 Cal Advance Hybrid recoil versions that are on offer to the Indian Army. Ministry of Defence (MOD) recently allowed Kalyani Group to procure ammunition for its howitzer and open its doors to the field range in India for Internal trials which earlier had to be done in the United States and South Africa. MOD also allowed Kalyani Group to export Bharat-52 and Bharat-45 which are two 155 mm guns to prospective countries and even more advanced ATAGS has been cleared for export by India even though it is still under user trials of the Indian Army.
