The National Combat Aircraft, which was launched with the aim of producing a warplane designed and developed with domestic means and capabilities, to replace the F-16 aircraft, which is thought to be gradually deactivated from the inventory of our Turkish Air Force Command as of the 2030s, and to create the manpower and infrastructure to design and develop this aircraft.

With the capabilities to be gained in technology areas such as low visibility, internal weapon slot, high maneuverability, increased situational awareness and sensor fusion, which should be in a new generation aircraft in the project; USA, Russia, China etc. in the world. It will take its place among the limited number of countries that have the infrastructure and technology to produce a 5th generation fighter aircraft.

MU will work in cooperation with other warplanes in the inventory of the Turkish Air Force Command, platforms such as Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAV) and Airborne Warning and Control (HIK) and other elements planned to be procured, and that the aircraft to be produced will be produced by Turkish Air Force until the 2070s. It is envisaged to be included in the inventory of the Forces Command.

The MMU Development Project Contract was signed with the SSB on August 05, 2016, and work continues with all stakeholders involved in the project, especially TUSAS, the main contractor. The current contract signed covers the preliminary design phase, which is part of the development and production process. During the said period, it is aimed to design the aircraft, to develop engineering, technology, test infrastructures and certification processes, to acquire the ability to design and develop combat aircraft. The 'Heads of Agreement' for the development of National Combat Aircraft between TAI and BAE Systems (England) was signed on 28 January 2017 and the agreement report on 10 May 2017.

At the end of the preliminary design phase, an uninterrupted transition is envisaged for the following periods and stages of the project. In line with the main objectives of the project, TAI is making maximum efforts to benefit from all national opportunities in order to increase its knowledge and experience in combat aircraft design, production, integration, certification, maintenance and maintenance of Turkey.

When talking about a platform for the domestic and national defense industry, the first two issues that come to mind for almost everyone are engines and ammunition. The MMU already carries a US-made engine and the testing processes will be completed with this engine. Benan Aylangan explains that MMU will have a domestic engine in the upcoming periods and that the work on this process continues. Low visibility is one of the most important issues for warplanes

In order to meet the operational requirements of the Turkish Air Force, the original Engine Development Project, which is aimed to be used in the twin-engine MMU configuration, is being carried out at the MMU. Until the completion of the Original Engine Development Project, aircraft development activities will continue at MMU using ready-made engines.

As to which missiles can be fired by the National Combat Aircraft, yThe integration of domestic ammunition is one of the most important elements in the National Combat Aircraft project. We carry out integration studies of all ammunition developed by TÜBITAK-SAGE, ROKETSAN and ASELSAN both in the internal weapon slots of the MMU and in the external stations under the wing. When the MMU enters the inventory, it will be capable of using all the domestic ammunition needed. The MMU's internal weapon slots were sized for the integration of domestic ammunition. In addition, both the work on the aircraft continues and the design studies and modification works in ammunition developer companies are carried out simultaneously.

The National Combat Aircraft project was seen only as a fighter aircraft project in the early stages… But another concept that has been talked about at the point we have reached is that the MMU can operate in the operational environment together with unmanned aerial vehicles. In its most general form, the pilot flying the MMU will be able to control some of the capabilities of unmanned aerial vehicles flying in parallel, while controlling the national combat aircraft. More precisely, they will be able to perform their duties together in the operational environment.

The MMU, the 5th generation multi-role fighter aircraft, provides superior capabilities for the requirements of both air-air and air-ground combat. MMU, the powerful and agile platform of Turkish Aerospace Industries with high survivability; He is a true warrior with his smart and powerful combat abilities. Test activities and the most advanced engineering tools and methods are used to determine and optimize the aerodynamic geometry, which is one of the most important steps in the MMU Development Project.

The cockpit design of the National Combat Aircraft is being matured in order to minimize the workload of the pilot by considering the capabilities and equipment required by the 5th generation warplanes. In the design process, a cockpit environment is developed that will increase the pilot's situational awareness, taking into account the physical, cognitive and environmental factors that the pilot is in.
