Air conditioning | Accommodation, public areas, laboratories |
Navigation fit / bridge | S band & X band Type Approved ARPA radars global positioning system (GPS) ( Differential probably + advanced TIS differential GPS system including attitude sensing); electronic chart system; echo sounder; Doppler log; facsimile weather receiver; remote TIS data access |
Communications | INMARSAT with modem and fax facilities Two 25W fully synthesised marine duplex FM VHF. UHF AM military radio transceiver Internal communications system |
Main laboratory | 50 sq m lab with benches and racking 230V 60Hz, 115V 60Hz power supplies |
Trials instrumentation system (TIS) | This is a state of the art computerised
Data acquisition system for collecting ships structural, seakeeping and
other ships parameters on a single integrated system. Further enhanced
from the system used on US Navy ships USN TAGOS19 & Sea Shadow.
Also the system will record video, navigation information, environmental
data - wind speed & direction, temperature, wave height & direction,
and machinery parameters. It is designed to operate 24 hours on a non interference
basis. Extensive video system accessible separately. NMEA 0183 and RS422 will be available from ships system for TIS or other requirements. |
TIS room | This room will house the central processor and logging system for the TIS. There are 230V 60Hz, 115V 60Hz power supplies. |
Large clear flight/ working deck | The deck will be approx. 500 sq metres.
This will accommodate 4 off 20ft or 2 off 40ft ISO containers with twistlock
connections to the deck. Adjacent power supplies of 440V 3 phase
125A, 440V 3 phase 63A & 230V 16A will be available. Winches on container
bases can be substituted for the containers.
A 5 tonne 'A' frame could be fitted aft. |
Helicopter / unmanned air vehicle (UAV) operations | Large deck capable of landing a UK Lynx helicopter (5 tonne) or equivalent. The deck is considerably larger and within the structural loading constraints can accommodate much large vehicles. UAV deployment potential |
Trials provisions incorporated in design | Provision for containerised trials outfits eg
Battery ride through or fuel cell testing provision in propulsion system Design provision for integrated technology masts Lowish radar cross section and acoustic signatures to permit substitution as a warship in target strength sensitive trials. |
