T-100 Integrated Training System (ITS)
The T-100 Integrated Training System (ITS) is one of the world’s most modern, advanced, and comprehensive 4th & 5th generation flying training system. The T-100 ITS builds upon the proven technology, systems and international success of Alenia Aermacchi’s M-346 advanced jet trainer system. The M-346 is currently in production for the Italian Air Force, Republic of Singapore Air Force, and Israeli Air Force.
Embodying the very best of aeronautical and aerodynamics engineering and incorporating unique U.S. Air Force requirements, the T-100 provides state-of-the-art technology at a low acquisition and life cycle cost.
The aircraft, designed specifically to meet the needs of air forces flying 4th & 5th generation aircraft, is capable of conducting:
- sustained high-g operations
- air refuelling
- night vision imaging systems operations
- air-to-air intercepts
- data link operations
As a result of its multiple system redundancy including twin engines, twin hydraulic and twin electrical systems, the T-100 offers the highest level of safety in its class. The latest generation of avionics, state-of-the-art pilot-vehicle interface and the in-flight capability to simulate tactical scenarios, sensors and weapons immerse the pilots in a realistic and complex training environment.
The T-100’s ground based training system (GBTS) includes the most advanced and flexible ground based training components available today – on par with front line 4th and 5th generation aircraft. The trainers are capable of comprehensive Distributed Mission Operations (DMO). The GBTS’s full mission simulator and part task trainers use the identical flight control software as the aircraft, enabling all training events to be introduced and practiced with the same aircraft feel and reactions prior to the students’ first exposure to the actual aircraft flight training mission.
The T-100 ITS is a candidate to replace the U.S. Air Force’s current fleet of aging T-38 advanced jet trainers. Incorporating state of the art U.S. technology, the T-100 ITS would provide the U.S. Air Force with the capability it needs today to meet the training requirements of tomorrow.
Alenia Aermacchi teamed with General Dynamics C4 Systems for the upcoming U.S. Air Force’s T-X Trainer Program. Alenia Aermacchi would provide the platform, while General Dynamics would serve as the prime contractor and systems integrator. The T-100 Integrated Training System would be built in the United States with an emphasis on United States-made components and equipment.
Defense News reported 16 February 2016 that Raytheon had decided to team with Alenia Aermacchi to offer the T-100 Integrated Training System in competition against other trainer teams formed by Boeing, Lockheed Martin, Northrop Grumman and possibly Textron. Raytheon would replace General Dynamics as prime contractor on the Alenia trainer team, which also includes Canadian simulation giant CAE.
"The success of our nation's future pilots depends on a comprehensive trainer to prepare them to take full advantage of the capabilities unique to advanced 4th and 5th generation fighters," said Rick Yuse, president of Raytheon's Space and Airborne Systems. "Our affordable, low risk, open systems solution combines a proven aircraft with a suite of fully integrated training technologies. Our team is best positioned to bring the essential experience, capabilities and core competencies together to meet the United States Air Force's mission requirements."
