Polyphem
The Polyphem missile system was developed for Germany, France and Italy by the Euromissile consortium consisting, respectively, of DASA, Aerospatiale Missiles and Consorzio Italmissile. The optic fibre-guided Polyphem missile is intended for two kinds of mission: isolated strikes from light land vehicles against long-range targets or from small ships or helicopters against land-based targets.
The Polpyhem optics guided missile system provides combat support and permits highly precise artillery operations against point targets over long distances. The system can also be deployed from ships. The range amounts to 60 kilometers. Polyphem features an imaging infrared seeker as well as a multipurpose warhead.
