Kefallinia Zubr/Pomornik Rapid transport ships
Rapid transport ships (HS) type KEFALLINIA (Russian name ZUBR-Nato name POMORNIK) is today the largest in size hovercraft landing craft (Air-Cushion Landing Craft) in the world and are the fourth generation of aerostromnwn vessels. The KEFALLINIA HS is the first that was received from the HN. It's Russian origin and design according to the program with 12322 Ser. No 104. Built in 1993 in the yard of St. Petersburg ALMAZ company and para-given to the Russian Navy in 1994 with the number 717. The year 2000 was signed contract between the Greek and the Russian side according to which it would become a full repair of all board systems with major modifications in the oil cooling systems main engines, adding two additional air-conditioning systems and adding two power converters. October to November 2000 conducted inspections of the vessel in harbor trials and onboard (sea trials) in St. Petersburg Russia. The official receipt of the ship from the Navy and the exaltation [raising] of the Greek flag was on 22 January 2001.
The Greek Navy was expected to buy a total of five, inclding two purchased from the Russian Navy two, one is the Russian Navy active transfer, another new in May 2001 Day of the water. Greece also purchased from the Ukrainian navy a transfer of active duty. The three Greek navy after the purchase of technical transformation after the upgrade service. The last two purchase contracts signed in November 2002, worth $180 million, installed Volvo's Penta diesel generators.
