XXIII 300 tons, with a high-capacity batteries 1944-1945 61 2 bow TA. 2 torpedoes. 9.75 / 12.5 knots. 14 people. 59 were built by the end of 1944, most of which came into operation. Some took part in operations in the British Isles in the last days of the war.
XXVI 850 tons of ocean, with the engines on hydrogen peroxide (submerged) 1 + 7 experimental submarine Walter 4 bow and 6 lateral TA. No guns. Range of progress on the main diesel engines on the surface at 10 knots 7 310 miles. Range in a submerged position in the turbines at 25 knots 273 miles. Max, speed on the surface 14,4 node submerged on batteries - 11 knots, the turbines -25 knots. 27 ???. 27 people. The contract for 100 of these submarines was posted May 26, 1944. The first two submarines scheduled for March 1945, and the whole series by October, but these plans were foiled by bombing, and before the war, none of the submarine had entered into force.

TOTALS:

After Sept. 3, 1939 and on May 5, 1945 Germans U-boats sunk in different parts of a total of 2 603 Allied and neutral vessels, total tonnage of which (gross) was $ 13 570 000 tons. More than 90 percent of vessels sunk in the Atlantic Ocean and adjacent areas (such as the Caribbean Sea). In addition, the submarines were the cause of the loss of 175 allied combat and auxiliary ships.

AND THEIR PRICE:

The total number of German submarines of all types, built and entered service prior to and during the Second World War amounted to 1 150, of whom 781 died, 215 were sunk by the Germans at the end of the war and 154 surrendered. The total number of submariners was about 40 000 people, of whom 28 000 were killed and about 5 000 were captured during the war.
