João Coutinho
Corvette N.R.P. "João Coutinho" is the first one of the series of six ships constructed, the three first ones, in the shipyards Blohm & Voss in Germany, and the others three in the company Nacional Bazam of Military Naval constructions of Spain, according to one project genuinamente Portuguese, of the authorship of CALM ECN Rogério Silva d'Oliveira Duarte Geral. He was launched on 7 March of 1970.
From 1970 to 1975 fulfilled diverse missions in Africa, in the former-Portuguese colonies of Angola, Mozambique, Guinea and Cabo Verde, and from 1975 it has come to be attributed to the Operational Commands of Continente and Açores alternatingly, for the performance of various missions nominated of fetching and rescue, monitoring and fiscalization of territorial waters and ZEE, participating still in national exercises and trips of instruction.
