Ocean Eagle 43 Trimaran Patrol Vessel

OCEAN EAGLE 43 is an ocean patrol trimaran combining a very slender hull with two small floats enabling the required stability. This combination reduces the fuel expenditure, increases speed and autonomy, while insuring a good level of comfort even in moderate to rough sea conditions. Ocean Eagle 43 replaced the rule of “too much has never failed” with “what’s needed when it’s needed”. Hence the modular ship design which enables it to fulfil varied missions such as the fight against piracy, smuggling and terrorism, search and rescue, policing of fisheries, study and monitoring of the marine environment, special operations support, mine-sweeping and so on.

The vessel was designed to support European programs such as the MASE (Regional Maritime Security Programme) and the RMCB (Regional Maritime Capacity Building) which aim to develop regional means, to strengthen the role of governments and international organisations at sea and to promote a viable alternative to the privatisation of sea security.

Cherbourg (France) based shipyard CMN unveiled its latest concept during NAVDEX 2013 in Abu Dhabi: The Ocean Eagle 40 trimaran patrol craft. Specifically designed for anti-piracy and counter-terrorism operations, the Ocean Eagle 40 is capable of both high speeds and long endurance. In September 2013 the CMN shipyard (Constructions Mécaniques de Normandie), in Cherbourg (Manche district) , announced the successful sale of 30 vessels to Mozambique. This transaction included three Ocean Eagle 43, a sea patrol trimaran of revolutionary concept. This vessel is the result of top level French shipbuilding expertise and has a significantly promising future due to its capacity to answer government needs in terms of maritime surveillance.

Ocean Eagle 43 Mine-hunter

In October 2014, CMN confirmed its desire to offer the most demanding marine of innovative concepts. In addition to the new concepts of OCEAN EAGLE 43, SWAO 53 fighter and fighter FS 56, CMN continued by introducing new designs as factors of performance of his ships. CMN presented a new concept of mine Hunter. Based on the experience gained during the development of the OCEAN EAGLE 43 including the first units will be put to water in this year-end 2014, CMN has focused the famous trimaran in a fighter version of mines.

CMN is attached to design a versatile, powerful and easy to use mines Hunter allowing also to conduct actions of anti-piracy and anti-terrorism struggle, control of illicit, of traffic support to special operations and search and rescue missions. The EAGLE MH 43 OCEAN multihull architecture offers an optimal compromise between performance and autonomy. There are nearly 2500 miles that the ship can cross at an average speed of 14 knots with a crew limited to 15 sailors.

The modularity of the OCEAN EAGLE 43 HD can accommodate all the infrastructure and equipment necessary for an operation to hunt for mines. The OCEAN EAGLE 43 HD is designed to be able to implement of drones and tele-operes gear: drones for detection and identification, as well as the gear loaded to neutralize mines. The mode of operation of this fighter of mine is based on the use of autonomous vehicles or TV-operated aboard the OCEAN EAGLE 43MH playing the role of mother ship. Operations are conducted at a safe distance from the ship. The detection of mines long distance improves the safety of the mother ship, ensures the integrity of the crew and the success of the missions.

The OCEAN EAGLE 43 HD is equipped with a capacity for self defense including a full 20 mm cannon plus two machine guns of 12.7 mm with a field of hype of 360 °. Electronic warfare, the OCEAN EAGLE 43 HD offers means of detection and monitoring including a C - ESM, the brought function and the functions of radar navigation and surveillance. The whole is interfaced to a C2 'Command and Control' system and the "Integrated Navigation System'. The OCEAN EAGLE 43 HD is, par excellence, the modern mines Hunter meets the needs of the Marine Corps wishing to develop a new concept of ship performance at lower acquisition and operating costs and no equivalent.
