Comandante Joćo Belo
The Frigate Comandante Joćo Belo was the first of a series of four ships constructed in France in the shipyards of Nantes for Portugal. It follows the plans of the similar French ships of the class Comandant Rivičre. The Comandante Joćo Belo is an oceanic escort, making use of antiaircraft and anti-submarine armament, and being able to receive a helicopter on board. Since its incorporation on 01 July 1967, they have taken international and national participation in missions in overseas and exercises. They also carry through frequent trips of instruction with the pupils of Naval School and other schools of the Navy.
