Pip'a-got Naval Base
Pip'a-got is a port used primarily by the North Korean Navy. Facilities provide limited operational and logistical support to patrol craft based in the area.
The port is a natural coastal harbor on the west coast about 25 miles SW of Namp'o. The harbor is a small bay with an area of about 300 acres within the 5-fathom curve. Depths range from 10-24 feet; shelter is fair from all directions except east.
In 1970, intelligence reports noted an underground boat pen consisting of a tunnel with 2 openings, both protected by breakwaters, administration buildings, and numerous support buildings. The shipyard had 1 graving dock, 63 by 260 feet, with a single leaf gate.
