Pak Jae Gyong

Pak was chosen as the Deputy Director of the Propaganda Department for the General Political Bureau of the Korean People's Army, a post responsible for oversight of programs to further the personality cult of Kim Jong Il and for ideological education in the military. Along with Hyon Chul Hae, he played a key role in helping Kim Jong Il take control over the military.
He is known to be in his early sixties. He orchestrated many military events including the Ninth Conference of Propangandists and Agitators of the Korean People's Army (January 1995) and the Conference of KPA Company Commanders and Political Guidance Officers and Members of the Political Guidance Committee (March 1995).
He was elected an alternative member of the KWP Central Committee in 1993 and promoted to the rank of General in 1997.
In September 2000, he paid a visit to Seoul to deliver a gift of mushrooms from Kim Jong Il.
