The "Sun Yat-Sen University" is currently the marine comprehensive scientific research training ship with the largest displacement, strongest comprehensive scientific research performance, and most innovative design highlights in China. As a new generation of marine comprehensive scientific research ships, the "Sun Yat-Sen University" has many "firsts" in domestic scientific research ships. Wu Gang said that the ship used the L-shaped azimuth low-noise propeller for the first time among the domestic scientific research ships, the rim permanent magnet side thruster was used for the first time, the DC busbar + energy storage battery combination design was used for the first time, and the full speed active type was used for the first time.

It is equipped with two sets of permanent magnet motor-driven gear azimuth main propulsion devices, and the bow is equipped with two sets of rim permanent magnet side thrust devices. It has DP1 dynamic positioning capability. For the first time, the permanent magnet side thruster of the wheel flange is used-the key to solving the noise of DP working condition.

Under dynamic positioning conditions, marine scientific research ships have gradually attracted attention due to the vibration and noise of the cabin caused by conventional gear-type side thrust. Permanent magnet side thrust of the rim is a new type of propeller, through the rotor and stator of the underwater motor. Relative rotation to promote water flow can effectively reduce vibration, reduce noise, and simplify installation, maintenance and maintenance. This ship is the first comprehensive scientific research ship in China that uses permanent magnet side propulsion on the rim. The dynamic positioning conditions can fully reach the comfort level of CCS COMF (N2/V2).

Underwater radiated noise and dynamic positioning provides the best balance of the two. The ship uses multiple methods and multiple technology applications as a whole. Under the premise that the stern part adopts the geared full-rotation main thruster to ensure the dynamic positioning ability, the focus is on the main engine vibration isolation, nacelle opening arrangement, permanent magnet drive motor, gear processing and meshing, and silent propeller design and processing. The ship's underwater radiated noise index is predicted to meet the high index requirements of DNV GL's Silent F (Light search), and is expected to become the first domestic marine comprehensive scientific research ship with both Silent F and super DP capabilities.

In view of the special sea conditions in the South China Sea, in order to reduce the rate of seasickness, the ship is equipped with a pair of full-speed active fin stabilizers, which is different from the traditional "passive fin + anti-roll tank" form, which greatly improves the full speed in high sea conditions. In particular, the seakeeping performance under zero-speed operation is also a support for China's equipment supporting innovation industry based on full investigation.

In view of the high requirements of the acoustic equipment at the bottom of the scientific research ship on anti-bubble interference, the ship adopts a new anti-bubble invisible ball head with a bubble guide groove, and integrates hydrodynamic design, which greatly reduces the risk of bubble leakage. At the same time, the speed is guaranteed.

"Sun Yat-sen University" attaches great importance to environmental protection performance, meets the latest international emission requirements, and will obtain the Clean mark of China Classification Society to ensure that the impact on the atmospheric environment and water bodies is minimized. The ship will obtain the CCS Clean mark, with a zero sewage discharge time of 72 hours; set up a special garbage packing and low-temperature garbage storage room to ensure timely treatment of domestic garbage; the main engine is installed with a selective catalytic reduction device (SCR), and the main engine's exhaust gas is treated to meet the international maritime requirements Organization (IMO) Tier III emission requirements; all ship exhaust and drainage outlets have been reasonably arranged to ensure that the impact on atmospheric environment investigations is minimized.

In order to consider the future development of unmanned equipment cluster operation, the ship’s midship is equipped with a special storage compartment that can park multiple drones, and the amidships are equipped with multiple unmanned boats and ROV storage and deployment spaces. Test assignments are more flexible and diverse. In addition, the bow of the ship is equipped with a deck for temporary landing of helicopters. Designing special container storage cabins and scientific research storage cabins to double the scientific research storage space of the ship, and designing a special container transportation system and sample logistics channel, which greatly improves the ship’s operating deck and experiment as a comprehensive scientific research ship Room efficiency.

The marine comprehensive scientific research ship "Sun Yat-sen University" has dual platform functions for scientific investigation and personnel training. It is equipped with a large number of advanced scientific expedition instruments and scientific expedition control and support equipment, and has advanced facilities, complete functions, and various laboratories that can meet sample processing, detection analysis and data processing. The comprehensive performance and scientific expedition functions of the ship platform have the world First-class level, it is a veritable large-scale offshore "mobile laboratory".

The "Sun Yat-Sen University" has a large space for scientific examination operations and has strong scalability. In addition to the fixed laboratory of 760 square meters, the stern deck has an operating area of more than 610 square meters and can carry more than ten mobile container-type experimental function modules, which greatly improves the ship's comprehensive scientific research operation ability and work efficiency. In addition, the ship also has a helicopter thermal drop platform, which can effectively improve the capacity of personnel transportation and material transfer, and can be used as a landing platform for drones, greatly expanding the scope of the ship's scientific research observation in three-dimensional space.
