Type 058 Fushun class Coastal Minesweeper
The Fushun class minesweeper is a modified Shanghai II patrol boat with stern-mounted mechanical sweep gear. Around 20 were modified beginning in 1976. The Fushun class is a coastal craft. Beginning in 1967, the Chinese navy decided to adapt to the general development trend of the world's navies and develop low-magnetic steel hull structure minesweepers for magnetic mines. This is the origin of the Type 058 minesweeper. The hull of this class is 40 meters long, 8 meters wide, with a design draft of 3.5 meters and a total displacement of 400 tons. Because it is an inland river harbor minesweeper, the power and speed requirements are not high (power is a 400-horsepower diesel engine with a maximum speed of 8 knots), and its weapon configuration is only two 14.5 mm double guns. Because the hull material uses domestically rich manganese-aluminum low-magnetic steel material for the first time, the degaussing protection performance of the boat has been greatly improved, which is very beneficial for the mine clearance operation of magnetic mines.
