FT-12 - Fei Teng Beidou guided bomb

FT-12 GPS Guided bombThe FT-12 "Feiteng" guided weapon from China Aerospace Science and Technology Group highlights the use of rocket-assisted power in missile flight to form a strong and effective ability to fight long distances. As a precision-guided bomb, the FT-12 is different from the conventional conventional bomb due to the rocket-equipped engine on the projectile, and the Beidou system is perfected to achieve a precision of 20 meters. After the improvement, it will reach an accuracy of several meters.

FT-12 rocket boosts gliding guided bombs, not only doubles the range, but also has a total weight of 700 kilograms for the FT-12 gliding guided bomb, which can achieve a precise strike of the target within 150 kilometers, while the original gliding guided bomb The range is only 80 kilometers. Foreign media said that its emergence has made the future potential of such guided bombs a cost-effective ground-guided weapon to surface. To achieve this goal, the accelerated construction of the Beidou system mentioned above is indispensable. The Chinese FT-12 rocket gliding guided bomb can be loaded with its platform for China Rainbow 5, which will enhance the unconventional asymmetric combat capability of the Rainbow 5 UAV. Due to the perfect positioning system, it can plan the flight strike route and also has the ability to change the flight route.

The bomb adds a solid rocket booster to the caudal vertebra on the basis of the FT-2, and the maximum range of the FT-12 is increased from 90 km to 150 km under the rocket's propulsion. In addition, the bomb also reduced the round error probability from 20 meters to 15 meters through the improvement of the guidance system. The advent of the FT-12 marks the FT-1 guided bomb from a common satellite-guided bomb triple jump to a long-range strike weapon. Its 150-kilometer range is unique among global satellite-guided bombs. Compared with air-to-ground missiles with similar range, the cost of FT-12 is undoubtedly much lower, and it is a kind of long-range strike weapon with excellent cost-effectiveness.

The FT-12 bomb is mainly designed to combat ships. Of course, the FT-12 can't completely replace the air-to-ground missile with similar range. Because the missile only has the ability to attack fixed targets on the ground, it is necessary to increase the infrared or laser guide to form a composite guide with the Beidou/INS. The model will do, but it will undoubtedly increase the manufacturing cost of the bomb, which is contrary to its low-cost selling point.

The maximum range of 20 kilometers could not be launched outside the firepower circle, and the fighter was still within the effective range of the enemy's mid-range air defense system. Therefore, the Long March spacecraft made persistent efforts and developed the FT-2 extended-range guided bomb based on the FT-1. The biggest difference between the bomb and the FT-1 in appearance is that it uses a newly designed folding gliding wing instead of the original simple bomb wing. The hang gliding wing is usually folded back for storage, and unfolded after launch to generate lift, which greatly increases the range by increasing the lift-to-drag ratio of the projectile. After installing the hang glider, the maximum range of the FT-2 jumped from FT-1's 20 kilometers to 90 kilometers in one fell swoop, becoming a real weapon for attacking the ground outside the fire circle. Due to the addition of hang gliding wings, the weight of FT-2 has increased from 500 kg of FT-1 to 630 kg.

The Aerospace Long March was not satisfied with this. To further tap the potential of FT-2 in range, they asked what would happen if another rocket booster is added? So the FT-12 rocket-assisted guided bomb was born.

The projectile adds a solid rocket booster to the tail cone on the basis of the FT-2, which increases the maximum range of the FT-12 from 90 kilometers to 150 kilometers under the propulsion of the rocket. In addition, the missile also reduced the probability of circular error from 20 meters to 15 meters by improving the guidance system. The advent of FT-12 marks the FT-1 guided bomb from a common satellite-guided bomb triple jump to a long-range strike weapon. Its maximum range of 150 kilometers is unique in the world's satellite-guided bombs. Compared with air-to-surface missiles with similar ranges, the cost of the FT-12 is undoubtedly much lower, and it is an extremely cost-effective long-range strike weapon.
