The fourth brigade has its headquarters in Valverde. One of its two battalions patrols the northern part of the border with Haiti. The fifth brigade has headquarters at Barahona, with one tactical and two administrative battalions scattered in the southwest. The sixth brigade is designated as combat support. It had five battalions — artillery, armor, medical, engineering, and transportation — and quartermaster services. The seventh brigade is designated as a training brigade.
One independent battalion, headquartered at San Pedro de Macoris, had four companies stationed at provincial capitals at the eastern end of the island. A mixed tactical battalion of army, navy, and air force infantry units headquartered in Santo Domingo reported directly to the secretary of state for the armed forces. It included a mixed Special Forces unit trained in antiterrorism.
The Brigade's mission is to execute military operations aimed at reducing, stopping, and destroying threats and activities that disrupt social coexistence and development of institutions in assigned area of operations in order to create and preserve a stable and secure environment. To be a professional, modern and organized unit that has the necessary training to respond to the threats and challenges that arise in its area of responsibility, based on the principles and values of the Army of the Dominican Republic.

Brigada de Infantería ERD.This light infantry unit is made up of a headquarters company and three (3) infantry battalions: the first battalion Juan Pablo Duarte, the second battalion Ramón Matías Mella and the third battalion Francisco del Rosario Sánchez. By General Order No. 136 (1958), a new brigade is created, which will be called "Central Brigade", dependent on the Chief of Staff with seat in the Headquarters of the 35th. Of the Presidential Guard, consisting of two Regiments, by General Order No. 151 (1961) of the Chief of Staff, EN, moves the seat of the First brigade of Ciudad Trujillo to Azua, with General Order No. 193 dated December 20, 1961, the First Brigade, with seat in Azua, is changed and the designation of the Central Brigade with seat in Santo Domingo was replaced by First Brigade. |

Batallón Juan Sánchez Ramírez, ERD., with seat in the Fortress of the 6th. Brigade of Infantry, in the Province of San Pedro de Macorís. And the 17th. Battalion of Infantry ¨General Pedro Santana, with seat in the province of the Seibo. The 6th. Brigade of Infantry of the Army of Dominican Republic has its seat in San Pedro de Macorís, and the fortress takes the name of: General Pedro Santana. It was created by General Order No.09 of June 30, 2000. The organic creation of the Sixth Brigade of Infantry of the National Army, was completed when the General Headquarters Company of the Sixth Brigade and the 17th. Battalion, which added to the 16th. Battalion then formed the Brigade. |
