Gabon Navy
Important dates for the Navy:
- November 1961, reception of the first building of the Navy, the river patrol, BOUET WILLAUMEZ
- Incorporation of indigenous Gabonese sailors in the Navy:
- The Ensign Cissé
- The first master Navis Ndong Anguer.
- District master of first class Aworet
- The District of Petty Officer second class Mougnala
- Implantation has Port Gentil (company LASPAFE)
- 1963, first recruitment of the Gabonese sailors
- 1967, simultaneous start of the construction work of the first Base of Port-Gentil and the first guard sides at the Casa in Libreville.
- 18 January 1968, the reception of the coast guard said. It will have the name of the first President of the Republic: Léon MBA (the PLM).
- End of 1968, the Navy leaves the dock and houses of ELF-Gabon, to take its own premises of the new Base.
- Due to a very successful fishing surveillance mission, the Government is very sensitive to the protection of the fish fauna, buys a second coast guard called President Albert Bernard BONGO (PABB), built at the yards of the ESTEREL in Cannes in France which will arrive in Gabon in March 1972.
- In 1972 also, the Cadet MBINI Jean Leonard, first Gabonese officer was recruited, and sent in training a naval school in France.
- 1975, the Navy was placed under the command of the Land Forces and Naval. From this year, the Navy will know an extra evolution, both in terms of personnel and equipment.
- 1975, also comes the NGUENE patrol boat built in the USA
- 1976, acquisition of the BARGE to TRANSPORT MARITIME (CTM) MANGA, built in Senegal for amphibious operations.
- 1977, arrived from the sides NGOLO guard built in Italy whose speed of 40 knots made him one of the main military speedboats of the continent.
- 1978, arrival of the patrol boat fast missile President Albert Bernard BONGO (PARE) which was renamed in 1988 General BOULINGUI.
- 1982, the Navy acquired the former Base SOCOBA EDTPL with existing infrastructure

- 1984, arrival of the largest unit of the French Navy, the BATRAL (building of Transport Léger) specialized in the transport of troops, equipment, and amphibious operations.

- 1988, first recruitment of women has the Navy.
- July 1989, arrival of the first P.400; General BA-OUMAR.
- 1989, creation of the Naval Base of Mayumba pa
