YNG - Gate Vessel
YNG is a non-self-propelled gate vessel 110 foot long by 34 foot beam, designed for use in connection with the operation of harbor defense net systems. This craft is used to open and close the net gate. The harbor defense gates are maneuvered by use of two installed winches, one of which is used for opening and the other for closing the gate. The craft is self-supporting, being equipped with complete living facilities for a crew of 20 personnel and capable of supplying its own electricity and heat. Fresh water is obtained from onboard storage tanks. The craft is equipped with facilities for a four point mooring system.

FLUID SYSTEMS
Fresh water - Hand pump transfers water from storage tank to 200 gal. Fresh water gravity tank. One tank served all fresh water requirements (lavatory, showers, sinks, bucket faucets).
ANCHOR SYSTEM
Craft is moored by means of four 1-1/2" chain cables which are secured to fixed moorings and thence led through hause pipes, two forward and two aft.
Chains are hauled aboard by means of four hand operated reels (each with 120 fathoms of 7/8 inch diameter steel wire rope and connecting shackles) located on the deck house top.
One 1000 lb. Navy anchor is provided for mooring when not in normal service.
