M973A2 Small Unit Support Vehicle (SUSV)
M973A2 / BV-206S
As of mid-2001, the US Army was reportedly considering the purchase of a number of BV206S vehicles. Should those vehicles be purchased, they would be officially redesignated as the M973A2.
The Bv206S / M973A2 is an armored version with protection against fragments and small arms fire. It is a further development of the successful Bv206, and is designed to meet tough military requirements for extreme mobility under splinter protection, in all climates, with high reliability and low maintenance costs. With extremely high mobility in all kinds of terrain and high load capacity, the Bv206S is an ideal vehicle for Rapid Deployment Forces. This versatile vehicle can also be delivered in the same versions as the Bv206.
The Bv206S is designed for multi-role world-wide operations and is an ideal concept for rapid deployment tasks, peace enforcement, peace keeping and humanitarian aid programs, thanks to its out-standing performance and "ready to go" capacity. It is designed for air transport in a number of aircraft and helicopters and is amphibious with minor preparations and is in service within the Swedish, German, Spanish, Italian and French armies and under evaluation in other armies.
The Bv206S can be used to transport 12 combat equipped soldiers and is available in many configurations.
