- DoD News Briefing Tuesday, June 22, 1999 -- The U.S. dropped about 1,100 cluster bombs. Not all of those were dropped in Kosovo. The dud rate for a standard cluster -- most of these were CBU-87s. There are 202 bomblets in each CBU-87, and the dud rate is approximately five percent.
