Ultimate Resolve
ULTIMATE RESOLVE is an annual command post exercise (CPX) primarily aimed at building and strengthening the coalition.
USCENTCOM restarted it's exercise program with the Ultimate Resolve command post exercise and Intrinsic Action ground exercise in 1993. The ULTIMATE RESOLVE command post exercise was held in Kuwait late in 1993, bringing back nearly all of the coalition members together for the first time since the Gulf War.
Members of the U.S. Central Command participated in a command post exercise involving multinational forces and hosted by the Kuwaiti Armed Forces beginning on 01 December 1994. Exercise Ultimate Resolve 95 was designed to examine coalition warfighting issues associated with the defense of the Arabian Peninsula. This exercise was part of an ongoing exercise program that is designed to demonstrate the continuing U.S. commitment to the security and stability of the region. It also provides an opportunity for participating forces to share military expertise and increase their ability to operate together. Ultimate Resolve 95 ended on 07 December 1994. As a command post exercise, there were no operational forces involved. Approximately 40 staff members of the U.S. Central Command headquarters and its components participated. The U.S. exercise director was Central Command's Director of Operations, Maj. Gen. Joseph E. Hurd, USAF, under the direction of the Commander in Chief, U.S. Central Command. Exercise ULTIMATE RESOLVE 95, hosted by the Kuwaiti Ministry of Defense, provided a valuable forum for frank discussions on the defense of the Arabian Peninsula. Attended by representatives of the GCC states, Egypt, Syria, France, Great Britain and the United States, the seminar spawned recommendations for further long-range exercise development.
Exercise Ultimate Resolve 96 was hosted by Kuwait and included participants from Syria, Egypt, the United Kingdom, France, the United States, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain and the United Arab Emirates.
