TRADOC Wargame Enemy

Army Training and Doctrine Command [TRADOC] has conducted an annual transformation wargame every year since the year 2000. Over time, the main adversary has become increasingly generic. For the first two years, the enemy was the New Independent Republic (NIR), a combination of Iraq and Iran, though combat operations focused on Iraq. By 2002, this was getting a bit too close to the real world for comfort, and the main adversary shifted to Iran alone. By 2003, however, this too was perhaps a bit too close to reality, and the main enemy shifted to Nair, a country that closely resembled Iran, even to having the same letters in its name. By 2005, even this was too close to reality for comfort, and the main enemy became Redland, a fictional Islamic country in southeastern Europe covering the Balkans and Ukraine. Lest anyone become too confused, however, Redland's territorial extent and population both were a close approximation to that of Nair / Iran.
