Cooperative Support
Exercise Cooperative Support is an annual exercise designed to introduce Partner nations to the Alliance's concept for the logistic support of multinational operations. Initially limited to maritime operations only, the exercise will in future involve land, air and maritime activities with the aim of familiarising participants with the full spectrum of multiservice logistic support.
The NATO/Partnership for Peace (PFP) exercise Cooperative Support 95 (COSUP 95) was conducted from 25-29 September 1995 at the U.S. Navy's Fleet Combat Training Center (Atlantic), Dam Neck, Virginia Beach, Virginia. COSUP 95 is a logistics exercise involving 36 senior officers from 14 PFP nations -- Albania, Belarus, Bulgaria, Estonia, Finland, Hungary, Kyrgyzstan, Latvia, Lithuania, Moldova, Poland, Romania, Russia, Ukraine -- and 21 senior officers from 10 NATO nations -- Belgium, Canada, Denmark, France, Germany, Italy, Norway, Spain, the United Kingdom, and the United States. France, although not part of NATO military structure, joined in the exercise, as part of the normal training relations which it has established with its allies. The aim of the exercise was to introduce PFP nations to NATO multinational, shore-based and afloat logistics operations. COSUP 95 promoted closer military cooperation and interoperability between NATO and PFP nations and focuses on logistical aspects of peacekeeping, search and rescue, and humanitarian operations.
NATO's Partnership for Peace (PfP) Exercise Cooperative Support 2000 (COSUP 00) was conducted from 8 to 14 November 2000, at Balatonkenese - Hungary. COSUP 00 was a scenario-driven, seminar style, joint logistics exercise promoting closer military co-operation and interoperability between NATO and PfP member nations. The Exercise focused on the logistic aspects of a Peace Support Operation (PSO) carried out by a Joint multi-national force or a Combined Joint Task Force (CJTF) which will include land, air and maritime components. For the first time, COSUP 00 was a Joint Logistic Exercise where the NATO-PfP participants had the opportunity to exchange NATO information on the Navy, Army, Air Force and Amphibious logistics aspects of a PSO. The Exercise involved over 100 officer logisticians from most NATO and PfP member nations. Mediterranean Dialogue nations were invited to attend as observers.
Exercise Cooperative Support 01 took place on 7-13 October 2001 in Norfolk, VA, sponsored by U.S. Joint Forces Command (JFCOM).
Cooperative 02
Taking place 08 Oct 2002 - 15 Oct 2002. This is a combined/joint logistics desktop exercise to familiarize NATO and partner nation's Strategic and Operational Logistics Planners with NATO logistics doctrine, concepts, and procedures.
