3. If the MILES control display reads "77", or your CVKI blinks intermittently for no reason, you may have bad belts or bad sensors.

  • To check for bad belts, disconnect one belt from the kill indicator cable assembly. Re-key and check the MILES control display. If it reads "88", the belt you disconnected may need to be replaced. If it still reads "77", reconnect and repeat the procedure for the remaining belt. If you now get an "88", you've found your bad belt. If you get a "77" after checking both belts, you may have an inoperative MILES control console. (See Figures 3 and 4)
  • To check for bad sensors, tap each sensor with a nonmetallic object (e.g., piece of wood or plastic handle of a screwdriver). If the light blinks when the sensor is tapped, you have found your bad sensor. Replace the belt with the bad sensor.

4. Always check to ensure that your "not ready" light, located on your MILES control console, is off during operation. (See Figure 3 on page 13.)
