BORESIGHT PROCEDURES
1.
Align 25-mm/COAX laser to ISU.
a.
Select target at distance determined by METT-T (2,000-2,500 meters).
b.
Set range select knob to zero.
c.
Select AP or HE. Switch to high magnification and verify reticle.
d.
Set turret controls to manual,
and
center ISU reticle on target.
e.
Align the 25-mm/COAX laser to the same point of aim as the ISU; tighten laser
adjustments securely.
f.
Verify both laser and ISU are still on the same aim point. 2.
Align TOW laser to ISU.
a.
Erect TOW launcher and select TOW.
b.
Place TOW and traverse levers in manual.
c.
Center ISU TOW reticle on target.
d.
Loosen the TOW laser mounting bolts.
e.
Center the fine adjustment knobs on the TOW laser.
f.
Align TOW laser on target; tighten the TOW laser mounting bolts.
g.
Perform fine adjustments of aligning laser with the fine adjustment knobs.
h.
Verify both laser and ISU are still on the same aim point. 3.
Verify zero/system function.
a.
Select MILES-equipped target with
all sensors exposed
at
METT-T range.
b.
Select 25-mm AP or HE; leave range select knob set at zero.
c.
Engage with full burst, aimed at center mass of target; verify kill.
d.
If no kill, reverify boresight and attempt to verify kill again. If no kill
after two attempts, you may have a MILES equipment malfunction.
e.
Repeat steps 3a through 3d for COAX and TOW, as applicable.
f.
When engaging with TOW, you must track target for 12 seconds or until the "not
ready" light on the MILES control console goes off.
g.
Verify TOW MSRs are set to wet fire. 4.
Boresight thermal sight and aux sight to ISU.
a.
Select weapons system.
b.
Align ISU reticle on the point target.
c.
Adjust thermal sight to the same point of aim.
d.
Adjust aux sight to the same point of aim.
