PREFACE
This bulletin contains lessons learned from Active and Reserve Component (AC/RC) unit deployments to overseas theaters and Combat Training Centers. This publication is not intended to be a comprehensive listing of how to plan, prepare and execute deployments. However, the lessons learned do cover a wide range of subjects important to all deployments. The bulletin is designed to assist RC commanders and staffs preparing for future deployment missions. The lessons are also beneficial to AC units in their deployments and when assisting RC units deploying with them.
These lessons learned apply to any size or type unit involved in deployment. Understandably, each deployment has its own unique circumstances and requires detailed coordination and planning.
This bulletin supplements the guidance and instructions already provided in the Forces Command Mobilization and Deployment Planning System (FORMDEPS) and the Army Mobilization and Operations Planning System (AMOPS).
