PREFACE
1. The Noncommissioned Officer plays a vital role in the accomplishment of a unit mission. NCO's are the relentless driving force keeping soldiers and their units motivated and making things happen through tireless leadership and dedication to high standards.
2. This newsletter provides lessons learned, to all NCOs, and officers as well, on NCO leadership on the battlefield. This is the first newsletter focused solely on NCO lessons learned derived from observations from the Combat Training Centers (CTC)
3. The Center for Army Lessons Learned (CALL) recently created an NCO Branch, the charter of which is to disseminate combat relevant NCO lessons learned to improve NCO performance (and thus unit effectiveness) on the modern battlefield. Capitalizing on the vast experience of the NCO Corps, the branch also lends an NCO flavor to the review of other training and doctrinal literature.
4. We solicit help from you, NCOs and officers in the field, in providing the CALL NCO Branch with NCO lessons learned and other such observations. Whether from your CTC rotations or experiences in exercises or combat, your input is welcome and will contribute to the greater effectiveness of our NCO Corps.
