In yet another flagrant breach of the fragile ceasefire with Lebanon, Israeli forces launched deadly airstrikes in the country's eastern region on Thursday, killing at least six people and injuring 10 more.

The strikes come amid a broader US-backed campaign to disarm Hezbollah, the only armed group in Lebanon capable of resisting Israeli aggression.

According to the Public Health Emergency Operations Center at Lebanon's Ministry of Public Health, one of the attacks targeted a vehicle on the al-Masnaa international road in the Bekaa Valley, resulting in five fatalities and ten injuries.

In a separate assault, an Israeli drone strike killed a Lebanese civilian outside his home in the town of Kfar Dan, west of Baalbek.

The Lebanese National News Agency (NNA) reported that the man had been standing outside his residence when the drone hit—an attack emblematic of the increasingly indiscriminate nature of Israeli strikes across Lebanese territory.

The violence is not confined to eastern Lebanon. Earlier, the Health Ministry confirmed that a Syrian national was killed and two others wounded in an overnight airstrike on the southern town of Deir Siriane, located in the Marjaayoun district.

These continuing Israeli assaults come as the Lebanese government formally backed a US proposal that calls for the disarmament of Hezbollah.

Despite its military setbacks over more than a year of confrontation with Hezbollah, Israel agreed to a ceasefire that took effect on November 27. However, since then, Israeli forces have repeatedly violated the agreement through airstrikes and drone operations, undermining any prospects for lasting calm.

Although Lebanon extended the ceasefire until February 18, Israel has not honored the terms. It continues to occupy five key areas in southern Lebanon—Labbouneh, Mount Blat, Owayda Hill, Aaziyyeh, and Hammamis Hill—territories it is obligated to evacuate under the agreement.

Lebanon has condemned the continued presence of Israeli military forces as a violation of the ceasefire agreement and the established timeline for withdrawal. Senior officials in Beirut have expressed their commitment to take "all necessary measures" to remove the occupying troops from the nation.
