The Israeli military has carried out more deadly airstrikes targeting southern parts of Lebanon, in blatant violation of a ceasefire agreement with the Arab country.

Lebanon's Health Ministry reported that two people were killed in the latest Israeli attacks, the state-run National News Agency (NNA) reported.

One man died in an airstrike on a forested area in Nabatiyeh al-Fawqa, while another was killed by Israeli gunfire in the border town of Kfar Kila.

The Israeli military claimed it targeted several Hezbollah military sites, accusing the group of attempting to rebuild its weaponry in the area.

NNA said the man in Nabatiyeh al-Fawqa was a "municipal employee" who had been fixing wells when his motorcycle was struck.

Israel has continued its aggression against Lebanon despite a truce reached in November.

The regime also has maintained a military presence in five areas it considers strategically important.

This comes as Lebanon's NNA had reported that "an Israeli force, accompanied by two bulldozers," had infiltrated the "outskirts of Mays al-Jabal in the eastern sector of the border area, where it erected an earthen berm and encroached on dozens of meters of Lebanese land before withdrawing."

Since the commencement of the ceasefire, Israeli occupation forces have been launching assaults on Lebanon, including airstrikes throughout the Arab nation, breaching the agreement.

On January 27, 2025, Lebanon announced its decision to extend the ceasefire with Israel until February 18.

Although the deadline of February 18 has passed, Israel continues to maintain its occupation of five significant regions in southern Lebanon, namely Labbouneh, Mount Blat, Owayda Hill, Aaziyyeh, and Hammamis Hill, all situated near the border.

Under the truce deal, only UN peacekeepers and the Lebanese army are permitted to operate in the south.

Lebanon has called on the international community to pressure Israel to cease its attacks and withdraw its forces.
