Update 6
The Chinese naval task group of three ships has continued in a westerly direction this morning, across the Great Australian Bight.
Monitoring is being done by Australian military assets, and the Anzac class frigate HMNZS Te Kaha remains in the region. The maritime sustainment ship HMNZS Aotearoa has finished its replenishment tasks and is now heading for port.
The New Zealand Defence Force remains ready to support Australia by providing military assets for further monitoring should the need arise.
